Japanese American Cultural & Community Center hosted the 29th anniversary celebration and award dinner, “A Celebration of Heroes” in Little Tokyo last Sunday. The organization bestowed the Pacific Pioneer Award to community photographer Archie Miyatake, Nihon Buyo instructor Madam Kansuma Fujima, Urasenke tea ceremony instructor, Sosei Matsumoto, taiko performer Seiichi Tanaka, and bonsai master John Yoshio Naka (posthumously). Also, actor Masi Oka was given the Ambasador’s Award for his performance on NBC’s popular series, “Heroes.”
