SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres will raise funds for disaster relief in Japan as part of their Japanese Heritage Night scheduled for Friday, May 20, vs. the Seattle Mariners.
The club will also match donations via the Padres Foundation. More details about this effort will be announced as information becomes available.
Immediately after the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan on March 11, Padres President/Chief Operating Officer Tom Garfinkel said, “At a time like this we feel that it is important for the global community to become involved and support the people of Japan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the individuals and families affected by the devastation and we pledge to help support the relief efforts as Japan begins to rebuild.”
