JACCC’s On the Veranda program is a series of lectures and demonstrations that explore Japanese cultural arts within an intimate setting, presenting some of the most informative and insightful workshops by trained masters.
This Sunday, landscape architect and public artist Calvin Abe presents his unique perspective on the natural and manufactured world, and how it influences his work both professional and artistic.
Abe’s current installation “Ojama” uses straw wattle, a natural material commonly found on construction sites, to express the disturbances we find within landscape sites, and has re-defined and re-imagined the JACCC Plaza. Ojama is currently on display on the plaza until Sunday, July 31.
Calvin Abe’s talk will begin at 1 p.m. in the JACCC Garden Room, 244 South San Pedro St. Los Angeles, CA 90012. Admission is $20 for General Admission, $18 for Seniors/Students and $15 for JACCC Members.
The first 5 reservations made with the special code “The Rafu Shimpo” will receive the JACCC member discount.
