ALHAMBRA — Gary Yamauchi will celebrate his second term as mayor of Alhambra, his birthday, and the 20th anniversary of Tri-Star Vending on Friday, Aug. 5, at Almansor Court, 700 S. Almansor St., Alhambra. Reception at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m.
Born on July 29, 1944 in Chicago, Yamauchi is a graduate of Gardena High School. Prior to being elected to the City Council in 2004 and 2008, his civic involvement included serving on the Alhambra HUD Commission and Planning Commission.
He is the founder and owner of Tri-Star, one of the largest independent vending services businesses in Southern California. It was named “API Business of the Year” in the 49th Assembly District by then- Assemblymember Judy Chu.
Yamauchi has served on the board of the Go For Broke National Education Center and is an inductee of the Japanese American Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He and his wife, Linda, have three children and one grandchild.
