The Telephone Booth

I noticed telephone booths everywhere in Sendai’s main shopping arcade, Ichibancho. It made me laugh wondering who would actually use them (Japanese people can’t live without their cell phones). But when the earthquake hit,  cell phone service was spotty, so people began lining up at these green phone booths to get a hold of loved ones. Makes one appreciate 19th-century technology.
