Keiro to Host Genki Living Expo in Pasadena


PASADENA — On Saturday, Oct. 15, Keiro Senior HealthCare will hold its 50th Anniversary Genki Living Expo at the Pasadena Convention Center, a free event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with giveaways throughout the day.

Genki describes complete wellness: physical, financial, emotional, intellectual, occupational, environmental, social, and spiritual. The Genki Living Expo is designed to address each of these dimensions through fun, interactive programming and over 80 exhibitors to nurture a healthy lifestyle.

The expo has something for everyone. Attendees can pamper themselves with skin care products, nutritional supplements, and vacation getaways. Foodies may enjoy sampling delicacies such as spring rolls with grilled pork and bean sprouts, mouth-watering salad dressings, artisanal olive oil, specially blended teas, wines, and sake. Afterwards, they can check out the Community Book Shop for cookbooks and other community treasures.

On the Healthy Eating Stage presented by Sodexo, attendees may enjoy cooking demonstrations by Sodexo, a presentation by Whole Foods Market Arroyo, and presentations on wine by Annette Hanami, tea by David De Candia of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and probiotics by Masako Harada of Yakult.

On the Active Living Stage presented by Aetna, attendees may optimize their quality of life with fun activities like yoga with Kathy Martelli, exercise with Aetna, tai chi with Gardena Valley JCI, kendo with Pasadena Japanese Cultural Center Kendo Dojo, taiko with Kishin Daiko of East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center, zumba with Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple, hula with Halau Keali’i o Nalani, line dancing with Toru Nagao, pilates with Jamie Mizuhara, and ballroom dancing with Willie Nagami and Friends from Orange County.

Attendees may also sign up for complimentary 15-minute consultations with professional banking and trust officers, estate planning attorneys, financial planners, pharmacists and nutritionists in the Ask the Experts Area presented by Union Bank.

At the Social Media Lab, individuals may learn about Facebook and online health resources with help from students from the USC Davis School of Gerontology.
