The Little Tokyo community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the First Street Viaduct widening on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 9 a.m. The event will be held on the north side of the bridge outside the westbound lanes, between Vignes Street and Mission Road.
The expansion clears a path for the new MTA Gold Line light rail from downtown to Pasadena and makes more room for westbound traffic.
Speakers will include District 9 Councilmember Jan Perry, District 14 Councilmember Jose Huizar, and Board of Public Works Commissioner Valerie Lynne Shaw.
