Japanese Food & Sake Collection 2012 will take place Sunday, Jan. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sierra Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel Los Angeles, 555 Universal Hollywood Dr., Universal City.

Experience the taste of three emerging high-end Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles:

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, chef/proprietor of Nobu and Matsuhisa restaurants all over the globe, will present sashimi salad with Matsuhisa dressing;

Chef Katsuya Uechi of Katsu-ya Group, will present traditional Edomae (Edo style) sushi;

Chef Hitoshi Sugiura, who worked at the Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center and recently catered the Emmy Awards, will present tuna sashimi style with yuzu caviar or traditional Japanese decoration sushi roll.

Scheduled events include taiko performances, Namahage (a folk ritual from Akita Prefecture), a sake-tasting contest, and a sushi-eating contest. Door prizes such as airline tickets to Japan and restaurant certificates will be available.

Admission: $50 in advance, $60 on-site, $25 for children ages 3 to 9. Must be 21 or over to drink alcohol.
