Tenrikyo Mission Headquarters in America celebrated its 80th anniversary on June 15 in Boyle Heights with Tenrikyo members from across the U.S. and Canada participating. “Nuture the Future” was the youth-oriented theme. A group photo was taken in front of the Sanctuary following a commemorative service featuring Shinbashira Zenji Nakayama, patriarch and spiritual leader of the church, and Bishop Hiroshi Alexander Fukaya of Mission Headquarters in America.

Left: Noriko, Yu and Ryo performed “Dance! Dance! Dance?” Right: Yoshikazu Takahashi and Masaaki Tamai sang “Kyodai Nagashi.”

The bugaku piece “Nasori” was performed by the Tenri Gagaku Music Society of Los Angeles and New York.

The Boys and Girls Association and its Fife and Drums Corps were the closing act. The program ended with a celebratory “banzai” cheer.
