SAN JOSE — The Japanese American Museum of San Jose, 535 N. Fifth St. in San Jose Japantown, will observe National Grandparents Day on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
JAMsj and Lotus Preschool are teaming up to bring you a fun-filled day of cultural activities for kids and their grandparents, including:
Traditional Japanese games — kendama (wooden toy with cups and ball), ohajiki (flat marbles), ayatori (cat’s cradle string game), menko (card flipping battle);
Jan-ken-po tournament;
Kamishibai (storytelling);
Dress-up photo shoot;
Scavenger hunt and more.
Free admission for any grandparent accompanied by a child (both get in free). For all others, this event is free with admission to the museum (non-members, $5; students and seniors over age 65, $3; JAMsj members and children under 12, free).
