Tokyo Central, operated by Marukai Corporation, is the first of its kind in the U.S. Marukai renovated its existing store and changed the name. Sekiguchi (also pictured below) said, “We’re a pioneer in an American market by presenting Japanese deli, with souzai (side dishes) such as a croquette, gyoza and tonkatsu.” Tokyo Central will open its second store in March in West Covina.
