cherry blossom tributeThe visiting Cherry Blossom Queens and Courts from Hawaii and San Francisco came to the Japanese American Veterans Memorial Court in Little Tokyo on Aug. 16. They were addressed by Medal of Honor recipient Hershey Miyamura and World War II 442nd veterans Jim Yamashita and Tosh Okamoto from Seattle. The Memorial Court is inscribed with the names of over 1,200 Japanese Americans who gave their lives in service to America. Floral tributes were offered and the veterans spoke of the eternal debt of gratitude that we all owe these men for their supreme sacrifice on our behalf. The visit was organized by the Americans of Japanese Ancestry WWII Memorial Alliance, Japanese American Korean War Veterans, Japanese American Vietnam Veterans Memorial Committee, Veterans Memorial Court Alliance, and Nisei Week Hospitality Committee.
