By Genie Nakano

genie nakanothis year
the flowers bloom
in a heated winter
we asked for rain to fall
while farmers toiled dry land

soft rain
on New Year’s day
glistening rainbows
arching across the sky
coming our way soon

as we  blink
into a New Year
unbelievable
it went so fast
let’s make our moments last

Genie Nakano is widely published in journals, and her recent books, Enter the Stream and Storyteller are available on Amazon. She teaches gentle yoga and tanka at the Japanese Cultural Center in Gardena. Genie can be reached by email.
