A pre-concert talk about the Topaz concentration camp, where many Bay Area Japanese Americans were sent during World War II, will be given at 6 p.m.

The concert will feature Inouye on trumpet, Keisuke Nakagoshi on piano, In Sun Jang on violin, Paul Welcomer on trombone, Mark Izu on bass, and additional artists. Journalist and filmmaker Wendy Hanamura will emcee.

For several years, Inouye has been on a journey to discover all he could about his father, Tak Inouye. This led him to Topaz, outside of Delta, Utah, where his father was incarcerated along with 11,000 others. His father’s crime? Being Japanese American.

This evening of classical and jazz music will benefit the Topaz Museum in Delta. Friends of Topaz is helping to bring stories of the camp to a wider public forever. Donations will help the Topaz Museum to preserve this dark part of American history. For more information, email [email protected]

General seating is $50. A few tickets are still available. Go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mark-inouye-friends-in-concert-new-seats-added-tickets-24337412857
