The Nanka Shiga Club picnic attendees enjoyed great weather and delicious food at George Elder Park in Monterey Park on Aug. 28. Two scholarships were awarded to Michelle Kozai and Melanie Mizushima. Kozai, pictured above with parents Mas and Lily and brothers Kai and Kobi, graduated from Cypress High School and will attend CSU Fullerton to pursue liberal studies. She aspires to be an elementary school teacher. Mizushima, pictured below with parents Alan and Linda, graduated from Taft Charter High School in Woodland Hills and will study civil engineering at USC, with an emphasis on structural engineering. The club is very proud of both recipients and extends warm congratulations to them and to their families.
