TORRANCE — The Dale M. Inouye Foundation presents the second annual Memorial Luau on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Torrance Cultural Arts Center’s Torino Festival Plaza, 3330 Civic Center Dr. in Torrance. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Hosted by Drum4Tom and Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M).

Come support the diversification of the national bone marrow registry and support Tom Kurai and other patients who need to find their bone marrow match. Dale Inouye, a member of the FOR Pacers team, had a successful bone marrow transplant in 2007, but the cancer returned in 2008 and he died at the tender age of 9. His last wish was not to be forgotten, and the DMI Foundation, formed by his coaches and friends, is dedicated to carrying on his amazing courage and wonderful spirit.

The mission of the foundation, which also holds annual golf and basketball tournaments: Encourage young athletes to develop the values of inner strength, courage and a true joy for life, as demonstrated by Dale; promote and support the youth activities that Dale loved, such as basketball, golf and hula; raise funds to help in the battle against cancer; and serve as a memorial for Dale and the life he shared with so many.
