March 11—The Jazz Bakery’s “Movable Feast” series and Japanese American Cultural Community Center (JACCC) are proud to present the brilliant young Japanese fusion jazz piano virtuoso, Hiromi Uehara. She is heralded as one of the brightest new lights on the jazz landscape on both sides of the ocean. Hiromi’s unique piano styling is a melding of power; grace and passion that displays an astonishing range of mood and emotion. The concert will be held in Aratani/Japan America Theatre (244 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012) on Thursday, March 11 at 8 p.m.
Making a very rare appearance in Southern California, the protégée of such jazz veterans as pianist Ahmad Jamal and bassist Richard Evans, Hiromi is the latest artist on the Jazz Bakery’s “Movable Feast” roster that has included Ernie Andrews, Dori Caymmi, Mose Allison, Hubert Laws and Bill Henderson. Hiromi’s Little Tokyo concert performance follows on the heels of her most recent releases, Hiromi Live in Concert and Hiromi’s Sonicbloom Live in Concert. $35 General Admission, $20 Seniors/Students.
