Dr. Ted Jinichiro Tokaji

Born Nov. 27, 1939 in Santa Monica, Dr. Tokaji died at his home in Palos Verdes Estates on Oct. 2. He was a graduate of UCLA and Georgetown Medical School and worked as a psychiatrist for over four decades, most recently with the Long Beach Asian Pacific Mental Health Program from 2000 until shortly before his death.
Dr. Tokaji is survived by his wife, Kathleen McLeran Tokaji, his sons, Daniel Patrick (Renuka) Tokaji of Columbus, Ohio and David John Tokaji of Pasadena; and his granddaughter, Aria Lynne Mayadev Tokaji. He was previously married to Lynne Holland Tokaji, mother of Daniel and David, from 1966 until her death in 1999. Dr. Tokaji is also survived by his sisters, Chitose Nishi and Miwako (Kunio) Yoshioka; his nieces, Maryanne (Glenn) Kunimura of Hilo, Hawaii, Ruth Aramaki (Neal) Kawazoe of Rolling Hills Estates, Nancy Aramaki (Joe) Quinn of Rancho Palos Verdes; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. in Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes.
