A funeral service for Kiyoko “Kay” Shimizu, 80-year-old, Hilo, Hawaii-born Sansei, who passed away on Oct. 14, 2012 in Culver City will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Venice Japanese Community Center, 12448 Braddock Dr., LA with Bishop Taisen Miyata from Koyasan Buddhist Temple officiating. She is survived by her husband, Hitoshi Shimizu; daughters, Robyn (Marty) Cohen and Patti (John) Heyl; grandchildren, Kevin and Ryan Cohen, Jayme, Karyn, and Shawn Heyl; great grandson, Raiden Kainoa-Heyl; siblings, Robert (Sue) and Herbert Daimonji, and Carol (Richard) Ladera; sister-in-law, Dorothy Miyake; brother-in-law, Melvin (Rosa) Shimizu; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
