6/29-30—Long Beach JCC Ondo

June 29-30— The Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center’s annual Summer Festival will be held on June 29th and 30th from 3-9 p.m. on Saturday and 3-8 p.m. on Sunday.  It will be held at 1766 Seabright Ave. in Long Beach.  Food, games, opportunity drawing, martial arts and flower arranging demonstrations, plant and rummage sales, ondo, plus outstanding entertainment from several groups.  This is their annual fundraiser to support their various activities and maintenance for their center.

There will be ongoing showings in the classrooms for the Carol Takahashi’s “Camp Bird Carvings,” Ikebana, shodo calligraphy, Yukari Kai, Sumie, Japanese Language School displays and Internment Camp information and sign-ups.

4:00 p.m.- Huntington Beach “Aloha Senior Hula Dancers”

5:00 p.m.- Grammy Award guitarist Charles Ferring

5:30 p.m.- International Peace Choir

6:00 p.m.- Karate demonstration

6:30 p.m.- Flower arrangement demonstration

7:00 p.m.- Ondo

8:00 p.m.- Akai Taru Taiko

8:15 p.m.- Kokoro Taiko Kai

9:00 p.m.- Festival Ends

Sunday:

4:00 p.m.- Bruce Ford Band

5:00 p.m.- Yonemura Sisters Hula Dancing

5:15 p.m.- Tsukemono judging

5:30 p.m.- Kendo demonstration

6:00 p.m.- Plant Silent Auction ends

6:30 p.m.- Ondo

7:15 p.m.- Opportunity Drawing begins

8:00 p.m.- Festival Ends
