LOS ANGELES.—The University of California at Los Angeles was abuzz with excitement on Wednesday night as celebrities like Daniel Dae Kim of ABC’s “Lost,” Carrie Ann Inaba of “Dancing With the Stars,” and action superstar Chow Yun Fat gathered for the 2007 AZN Asian Excellence Awards, a celebration of the achievements of the Asian and Asian American community in film, television and music.
This will be the show’s second time being nationally televised, reaching an estimated 97 million homes, and the first time the E! network has attended.
“This is a difficult time for us because we’re competing with the Cannes Film Festival among other things, but I’m blown away by the number of people who’ve showed up” said executive producer Teddy Zee on the red carpet.
Red carpet and behind-the-scenes footage will air on E! Thursday, May 24, at 6 p.m. ET/PT, and the full awards presentation, featuring performances by saxophonist Kenny G and comedians Russell Peters, Dat Phan and Margaret Cho, airs on AZN Television on Monday, May 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
