July 20-21 — The Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 815 E. First St., Little Tokyo, will hold its annual Obon Festival on July 20 and 21 from 2 p.m.
The festival stage entertainment will begin at 3:30 pm. The highlight of the Obon festivities will be the Obon dancing which will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Along with the Obon carnival traditions of teriyaki chicken, sushi, and shave ice, there will be many other food and game booths. There will be produce, plant and white elephant sales, bingo, martial arts and tea ceremony demonstrations as well as cultural exhibits.
