Sept. 11 — A meeting will be held to discuss a Japanese American memorial marker or monument in Santa Monica at the northwest corner of Lincoln and Venice Boulvards at Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 12371 Braddock Dr., Culver City, from 2 to 5 p.m. Former internees and their families, as well as local history buffs, and artists are invited to attend.
The marker would memorialize the site where Japanese Americans gathered in West Los Angeles prior to the evacuation on April 25, 1942. RSVP at info@veniceartscouncil.org or call Emily Winters at (310) 306-7372.
