Sawtelle’s Yamaguchi and its adjoining lot are up for sale with an asking price of $6 million. The 60-year-old family business closed its doors last month.

The brothers decided to stop sale of Yamaguchi and its adjacent property last month to undisclosed buyers.

“We weren’t quite happy with it,” said Henry.

The 20,573 sq.-foot land area, located on the corner of Sawtelle Boulevard and Mississippi Avenue, includes two side-by-side lots zoned C2-1VL (commercial use) and R2-1 (residential use).

The city will allow up to three stories to be built on the commercial lot located at 2051 Sawtelle Blvd., according to Trammell Crow Company broker Craig Meyer.

Asking price for the property is $6 million.

The Yamaguchi brothers closed their 60-year-old family business last month. Both in their mid-70s, they felt it was time to retire.

The lots are located in the heart of the Sawtelle district, an area many Japanese Americans relocated to and where they were allowed to buy land following release from internment camps during World War II.

Those interested in the property may contact Craig Meyer of Trammell Crow Company at cmeyer@trammelcrow.com or call (310) 765-2622.
