  1. Size breeds arrogance and contempt. In the ’70s, the U.S. automakers thought they were invincible. Then Japan Inc. came along and showed them (with the help of OPEC) how wrong they were.

    Same thing with the invention of the SUV. Bigger car, smaller brains.

    Toyota is currently the world’s largest automaker. Honda isn’t nearly as large as Toyota and they haven’t had nearly as many problems.

    ( Not sure where Yugo fits into this analogy. Well, Yugoslavia was part of the big Soviet bloc… )
