The Asian American comedy troupe Cold Tofu will perform on Saturday, May 21, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Maryknoll Japanese Catholic Center, 222 S. Hewitt St. (east of Alameda, between 2nd and 3rd streets), Los Angeles.
“Cold Tofu’s improv shows at Maryknoll are a blast and we use your suggestions to make it happen,” said a spokesperson for the group. “We can’t do it without you, so bring your family and friends.”
The core performing members are Helen Ota (artistic director), J. Stephen Brady, Corinne Chooey, Robert Covarrubias, Denise Iketani, Jully Lee, Kevin Ocampo, Tom Oshiro, Michael C. Palma, Zakiyah Reagan, Aaron Takahashi and Wanru Tseng.
In addition to performing all over Southern California, Cold Tofu has performed throughout the nation in cities like San Jose, Seattle, Houston, New York and Washington, D.C. (at the Smithsonian Institution). The group has also performed and taught workshops at several campuses such as USC, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, Pomona College and the University of Washington.
