Near Perfect Pitch

In these images from Japanese television, sportswriter Hirotada Ototake throws the ceremonial first pitch – which made it all the way to the plate – at last Friday’s game between the Seibu Lions and Rakuten Eagles.

Born with no arms or legs, Ototake is famous in Japan for his bestselling autobiography, “No One’s Perfect,” which tells the inspirational story of how he overcame his physical challenges.

He dedicated the pitch to the people of Tohoku, who are working hard to recover from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
