‘Hula to Help Japan’ at Akiyama Wellness Center

SAN JOSE — “Hula to Help Japan” will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at the Akiyama Wellness Center field, 110 Jackson St. in San Jose Japantown.

The event is hosted by Halau Na Wai Lola’s Youth Performance and Leadership Team and the Japantown Community Congress of San Jose.

Donations will be requested of all participants and guests, and will be forwarded to the Japanese Red Cross.

“Share the spirit of aloha as we raise money for our friends and family of Japan,” said the event organizers. “Please join in the local relief efforts and fundraising for the tsunami and earthquake victims of Japan. We welcome musicians, hula dancers of all levels and lineages, and all lovers of Hawaiian and Japanese culture to join us in an informal program of music and dance.

“Bring your lawn chairs/mats and a picnic lunch and enjoy the music/dancing. No donation is too small. Everything helps!”
