‘DWTS’ Champion to Raise Funds for Relief Effort


LAGUNA NIGUEL — Cheryl Burke Dance Laguna Niguel will celebrate its second anniversary by hosting a fundraiser event on Friday, June 3, to benefit the Japan earthquake and tsunami relief effort.

Studio founder Cheryl Burke, two-time champion on the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars,” will teach a beginning group class in cha cha from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m., followed by social dancing and performances by the studio’s professional dancers. Complimentary wine, non-alcoholic beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served. The event will include a raffle and prizes from local businesses helping to sponsor this fundraising effort.

Following her group class, Burke will be available for photos and to autograph her autobiography, “Dancing Lessons,” which will be on sale at the studio for $20.

Admission is $90 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Japan America Society of Southern California’s 2011 Japan Relief Fund.
