El Monte Union High School’s Classes of 1942, ’43 and ’44, along with their children and friends from other years, are invited to a reunion on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 211 E. Huntington Dr., Arcadia.
Reunion chair Don McCullough invites the school’s Nisei Lions, who made up about 15 percent of the student body, to attend.
McCullough promises “a strictly informal happening with gabbing the No. 1 priority.”
The event will include a three-entrée buffet luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at a cost of no more than $25 per person.
Hotel suites will be available at reduced prices for the nights of Sept. 23 and 24. Make reservations directly with the hotel through Alma Teasley at (626) 445-8825 and be sure to mention the reunion in order to get the special rate.
This will be the first reunion without the stewardship of the late Jorane King Barton. Those helping out this year include Mary Helen (Akin) Kelly, Yosh Nakamura, Russ McFann, Martha (Stagis) Russell, Ann (Finney) and Bill Luman, Pat (Hillseth) and Jack Dennison, Bob Morales, Betty (Conklin) Norton, Wally Leonard, Dick Morgan, Nancy Barton (Jack and Jorane’s daughter), and Betty Jane (Sanborn) Moreland.
