Benefit Concert for Children of Tohoku


“Benefit Concert II: For Children in Tohoku, Japan” will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. at Bird Studio at Occidental College, 1600 Campus Rd., Los Angeles.

All proceeds will go to help the children who lost their homes/families in the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan.

The concert will feature local musicians — Aron Kallay, piano; Hyo Jin Kim, percussion; Noriko Hirao, marimba; Yuri Inoo, percussion; Naoko Takada, marimba/vibraphone; and Sakura Tsai, violin — performing works by Lou Harrison, Toshiaki Ito, Max Leth, W.A. Mozart, Nico Muhly, Thomas Osborne and Somei Satoh.
