SACRAMENTO — Gov. Jerry Brown on Sept. 12 announced the appointment of Reed Sato, 58, of Granite Bay as chief counsel for the Department of Toxic Substances Control.
Sato has been director of enforcement at the State Water Resources Control Board since 2006. He was deputy attorney general for the California Department of Justice from 1994 to 2006, and was a partner for Washburn Briscoe McCarthy from 1992 to 1994, after working as an associate with the firm from 1990 to 1992.
This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $139,200. Sato is a Democrat.
