Benefit Dance for Asian Women’s Shelter


SAN FRANCISCO — The Asian Women’s Shelter will hold its fourth annual benefit dance on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the St. Mary’s Cathedral Event Center, 1111 Gough St. at Geary Boulevard, San Francisco.

The event will feature two local bands:

Pulse plays a mix of neo-soul, R&B and rock music. This popular band has been a local favorite for over 25 years and continues to entertain crowds at many community events, such as the Cherry Blossom Festival and Nihonmachi Street Fair. Band members include Carey Huang (keyboard), Billy Shen (guitar), Derrick Tong (bass), Arthur Wong (drums), Mel Banez (vocals), Cris Garcia (vocals), and Margie Lao-Williams (vocals).

Rendezvous will ignite the dance floor with their highly spirited, upbeat performances. Come and groove to their jammin’ melodies. Band members include Brian Cohn (keyboard), Elmo Custodia (bass), Don Ono (guitar), Phil Wong (percussion), Nelson Yee (drums), Charles Phil Nicholas (vocals), and Rowena Rapadas (vocals).

The raffle grand prize is an Apple iPad. There will also be line dance lessons, snacks and drinks.

Come to have fun while supporting Asian Women’s Shelter in creating a future free from violence in the Asian Pacific Islander communities.
