Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, representing San Pedro in the State Legislature, has signed onto Warren Furutani’s campaign for the Los Angeles City Council.
Lowenthal stated: “Warren Furutani is a fighter for the communities he represents. He took the lead in organizing legislative support to bring the USS Iowa to San Pedro and he helped secure funding to rebuild the Gerald Desmond Bridge, a project that is bringing 4,000 good jobs to our community. I am proud to support Warren Furutani for City Council.”
Furutani responded, “Bonnie Lowenthal and I have stood together to fight to improve the quality of life in the harbor communities. I am honored to have her support, and look forward to continuing our work for safer, healthier and economically robust communities.”
Furutani was born in San Pedro to a family that lived in San Pedro for three generations and worked in the tuna fleets. He has represented San Pedro and other harbor communities, including Wilmington and Harbor Gateway, as a member of the Los Angeles Board of Education and the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees as well as the State Assembly.
