MONTEREY PARK — The Asian Pacific Health Corps (APHC) at UCLA and the City of Monterey Park will be sponsoring a free health fair at Monterey Park City Hall, 320 W. Newmark Ave., Monterey Park, on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At the health fair, student volunteers from APHC will offer free preventative screenings for cardiovascular disease, including blood pressure, and body mass index. In addition to these volunteers, there will be other service providers, such as the USC School of Pharmacy, UCLA Asian Dental Clinic, and the Asian Pacific Liver Center to offer hepatitis B, vision, bone density, dental, glucose, cholesterol, hypertension, and orthopedic screenings.
Various community organizations will provide valuable information and resources regarding other health and community issues. Physicians and other health-care experts will also be on-site to provide direct counseling and/or referrals. There will also be a children’s area with various arts and crafts activities.
The health fair is entirely free and open to everyone (no insurance proof or documentation required). For information, visit www.studentgroups.ucla.edu/aphc/.
