Add a Japanese Touch to Your Holiday

The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center presents “Japanese Touch to Your Holiday Celebration” as part of its “On the Veranda” series on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Get ready for the holiday season with mixed-media artist Karen Toda, who has experience teaching paper and textile works as well as interior decorating. She has explored and interpreted Japanese traditions in a contemporary way.

For this lecture, Toda will go over the traditions of Japanese decorations and symbols for Oshogatsu or New Year’s, and demonstrate how to make a nengajyo (New Year’s cards) and how to wrap holiday gifts using a furoshiki.
