LONG BEACH — Lillian Kawasaki, a 2012 candidate for the 8th District seat on the Long Beach City Council, announced additional endorsements on Nov. 29.
One is from Long Beach Board of Education member Mary Stanton.
“Delivering a high quality educational experience to children in Long Beach has always been one of my top priorities. I’m especially pleased to have this commitment recognized by Mary Stanton … I look forward to helping Mary and the other members of the Long Beach Board of Education in their efforts,” Kawasaki said.
Kawasaki also said that she appreciates Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe’s “support and acknowledgement of my credentials and leadership” and that she looks forward to “working with Don Knabe and his staff to provide leadership and resources to our community.”
“During these tough economic times, we need leaders like Lillian Kawasaki who will support local businesses, expand job opportunities, and encourage economic growth,” said Knabe. “I know the integrity and passion she will bring to the council.”
Kawasaki currently serves on the board of the Water Replenishment District of Southern California. If elected to the council, she will succeed Rae Gabelich, who is termed out.
