Civil rights icon and labor leader Dolores Huerta has endorsed Warren Furutani for Los Angeles City Council.
Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers of America (AFL-CIO) with Cesar Chavez in 1962. In 1965, she directed the UFW’s national grape boycott. Today, she serves as first vice president emeritus of the UFW.
She is president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, a non-profit committed to advancing social and economic justice.
“Dolores Huerta is one of my heroes,” stated Furutani. “She puts herself on the front line in the fight for equality every single day. I am truly honored to be worthy of her trust and support.”
Furutani has been endorsed in recent days by the UFW, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor (AFL-CIO), the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (Southern California District Council), and United Teachers Los Angeles.
Previously, he was endorsed by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party and the Sierra Club.
