A South Bay state senator is angry that a nationwide homebuilding supply company reportedly pulled its advertising from a cable television show about Muslim Americans.

Sen. Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) may ask for a boycott the Lowe’s chain, unless it reverses its decision and apologizes for pulling its ads from the TLC Network broadcast “All-American Muslim.”

The Florida Family Association called the show “propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values.”

The group sent three emails to its members, asking them to petition to Lowe’s to pull its advertising. It also published a letter from Lowe’s Cos., saying it agreed to stop advertising associated with the show.

Lieu called the move “bigoted, shameful and un-American.”

The company’s North Carolina headquarters issued a statement calling “All-American Muslim” a “lightning rod” for people who have “strong political and societal views on this topic,” and said it will pull its ads because it is “best to respectfully defer to communities, individuals and groups to discuss and consider such issues of importance.”

  1. I fully support Lowe’s and will not watch TLC. If i could vote in an election where you are running it wouldn’t be for you. In fact i would boycott you, a typical left wing west coast un-American.

  2. Given that the Senator and the President are both Democrats the basis for the support is obvious. But I think the Senator is sucking up—supporting President’s Obama’s pro-muslim stance and personal Muslim faith. Obama’s recent actions to punish the American people for speaking out negatively in any way about Islam or the Muslim faith are a sign of what’s to come. I support Lowe’s and their decision. The US Congress was not created to monitor, comment on or interfere with a company’s advertising decisions. Do the words, “Free Speech,” mean anything? Not supporting something is as much a freedom as choosing to support something and financial support or not, IS a form of free speech!
