The Westside Optimist Club of Los Angeles will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, March 23, at 1 to 4 p.m., at Taix French Restaurant, 1911 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles.
The club was formed with 55 members in the Seinan/Crenshaw area as a mainly Japanese American community service club. Mark Kiguchi was the charter president.
The club has continued to be active in supporting youth and community programs. Westside formed Optimist clubs in over 11 Southern California communities, serving thousands of young people over the years.
