SAN FRANCISCO — The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California will celebrate Kodomo no Hi at the Children’s Day Festival on Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Japantown Peace Plaza, Post and Buchanan streets in San Francisco.
Activities will include arts and crafts, carnival games, and cultural performances. Bring your loved ones out for this family-friendly festival and enjoy an afternoon out in San Francisco’s Japantown! Free and open to the public.
Scheduled performers include ABC Preschool, Genryu Arts, Halau Ka Liko Pua O’Kalaniakea, JCCCNC’s Kirakiraboshi Children’s Choir, and San Francisco Kendo Dojo.
The Nikkei Youth Scholarship Raffle drawing will take place around 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $5 each or $25 for six for a chance to win a pair of roundtrip domestic United Airlines coach tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. Winner need not be present.
Proceeds support JCCCNC youth programs, including the 2016 Children’s Day Festival, and provide scholarships to need-based participants.
