Feb. 12 — Catherine Irwin will speak on her book, “From Shonien to Children’s Village: Relocating Japanese American Orphans during World War II” on Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 2115 W. 182nd St., Torrance. All are welcome.
The meeting/program is sponsored by the Greater L.A. Singles Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League. The focus of Irwin’s talk will be about the World War II relocation of Japanese American orphan children from a Los Angeles orphanage to Children’s Village, which was located at Manzanar concentration camp. She is an assistant professor at the University of La Verne, Dept. of Modern Languages Writing Program.
