West L.A. Buddhist Temple, 2003 Corinth Ave., Los Angeles, holds its annual Obon Festival on July 28-29.
Obon is a Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed spirits of one’s ancestors. Hours are Saturday, July 28, from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 29, from 3 to 9 p.m. Obon dancing begins at 6:30 p.m. both days. West L.A. Taiko performs at 5 p.m. on Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition, there will be delicious food, including udon, won ton and Imagawa yaki, as well as games, ikebana and bonsai displays.
