8/9-11 – Manzanar High School Reunion

Aug. 9-11 — Manzanar School Reunion Chairman Hank Nakano announced that the committee will host one more Manzanar School reunion to be held at the California Hotel in in Las Vegas in August.

Committee members are: Grace Deguchi, Cabby Iwasaki, Rosie Kakuuchi, Ray Kawahara, Lillian Kawasaki, Toshiko Kubota, Kats Marumoto, Jun Okimoto, Sam Ono, Joe Ozaki, Kanji Sahara, Wilbur Sato, Jane Tochi, Cherry Uyeda and Seigo Yoshinaga. This select group is planning an informative, fun and exciting event for anyone interested in the history of Manzanar as well as those who attended school there.

The reunion dates are set for Aug. 9 to 11 and again, buses will be available from Los Angeles, Gardena, Venice and the San Fernando Valley. The committee recommends attendees take the bus and leave the driving to someone else. In many cases, the reunion begins when boarding the buses.

The reunion events will include reuniting with fellow classmates, block mates, teammates and campmates. On Monday evening there will be a very short program to allow for the mixer. On Tuesday, there will be a slot tournament at Main Street Station Casino and a banquet will be held on Tuesday night in the Ohana room at the California Hotel. The program for the evening is still being planned but as in the past, it will be interesting and informative.

Rangers from the Manzanar National Historic Site will also be on hand to provide the latest information on park activities. This event is always very enjoyable and informative.
