Oct. 16-31 — The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, 244 S. San Pedro Street, celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Beikoku Shodo Kenkyukai, this exhibit showcases the work of the masters and up-andcoming artists from this Japanese Calligraphic Art group. Admission is free. Exhibition takes place at the George J. Doizaki Gallery.
The late Rev. Kansha Ikuta and his wife, Hiroko, founded Beikoku Shodo Kenkyukai in 1965 and through the organization taught Shodo throughout the United States and Japan. Beikoku Shodo Kenkyukai continues to outreach to new students and inspire interest in Japanese calligraphic art.
